LA GRANDE — Eastern Oregon University celebrates this year’s Homecoming on Oct. 21-22. The EOU Alumni Association encourages all EOU alumni, family, and friends to join in the festivities.

The weekend has a large variety of activities for all to enjoy. Events that require registration are the Homecoming fun run and Mountaineer Athletic Association golf scramble. Registration forms can be found at

Friday, Oct. 21


The 24th-annual Mountaineer Athletic Association golf scramble at Buffalo Peak Golf Course starts at 9:30 a.m. All proceeds support athletic scholarships. The entry fee for the tournament is $100 per person or $400 per four-person team. Parents, community members, alumni and fans are all encouraged to attend. Register online at

Parade, pep rally

The Homecoming Parade winds through downtown La Grande starting at 5 p.m., followed by a pep rally and entertainment in the parking lot at Benchwarmers at 5:30 p.m.

Title IX

At 6:30 p.m., an event celebrates Title IX and 50 years of women in sports at EOU. RSVP by filling out the form at


Friday culminates with a student bonfire at the fire pit on campus from 8-10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 22

Fun run

Saturday starts early with the Homecoming Fun Run starting at the EOU Fieldhouse. Registration starts at 7 a.m., and the race begins at 7:30 a.m. Participants can choose one mile, a 5K run or walk, or a 10K run. Entry is $30 per person. Register online at

Alumni events

The alumni breakfast is 8:30-10 a.m. at Hoke Community Room, and the alumni softball game starts at 9 a.m. at Peggy Anderson Field. The alumni baseball game commences at 9:30 a.m. at Pioneer Park at Optimist Field.

The women’s alumni basketball game starts at 5 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.


Starting at 10 a.m., everyone is welcome to the EOU Tailgate Zone for tailgating and entertainment. A ribbon cutting for the new Fieldhouse happens at 10:30 a.m. Kick off is 1 p.m. for EOU versus Montana State University-Northern.

The day finishes with Overtime Downtown at The Local, 1508 Adams Ave.
